HMV still haven't learnt anything!

The 21 year old Intern who live tweeted during #HMVXFactorFiring still has access to their Hootsuite, one week after the hijack.

Earlier I wrote about the HMV hijack and live tweeting during the firing of the staff, and noted how I hope HMV had now learnt how powerful social media can be.

However, it looks like they haven't learnt a thing. Poppy Rose (@poppy_powers) was the intern who set up HMV's Twitter and then bagged a job with the music masters. She Tweeted the live details of the mass firing last week, but today, after reading an article written by Hootsuites CEO, (http://www.fastcompany.com/3005569/lessons-learned-hmvs-very-public-twitter-meltdown) she revealed they still havent revoked her access from the social media management dashboard.

Oh HMV with management like this, is it any wonder your in so much trouble?

Now thats customer service!

This is why I #LoveLanson

In January, I finally brought my first house! To celebrate, I had a bottle of Lanson chilling in the fridge ready and waiting for the call from the solicitors to say everything had finally gone through. In anticipation of this moment, I instagramed a picture...
Along with the caption: Hopefully we will be cracking this open tonight! #ourhouse #mortgage #completionday #champagne #lanson #picoftheday
The clever people at Lanson spotted this as my Twitter and Instagram were linked and sent me this...

I followed up my Instagram picture later than evening, when we finally got to drink the yummy fizz...
Caption: Celebrations :)) #lanson #champagne
To which I got another lovely tweet from Lanson...
And as if that wasn't enough to make me #LoveLanson, I then got a Tweet which read...

And here is what they sent me...
I have to say Lanson, that was that was a great bit of marketing. It looks like they have really got a grasp of how a social conversation can impact purchase decisions. Needless to say, I'm now a loyal customer to Lanson champagne, nothing else will do.

Is it wrong to get excited about this...?

Its Pinterest... and it says New!

I love Pinterest, it drives so much traffic to our website, and we have seen this increase month on month until it overtook Twitter as a traffic driver!

So when I just logged on to see this, I got excited. Pinterest has very few anayltics, and if one of our pins gets repined a number of times, we have no ideas where its gone. Could this be what I have been waiting for?

So here is the low down...

This feature has been created by Pinterest to make it easy to find relevant and interesting pins. News will show you the boards where your pins were repinned to, so you'll find other pins you might like.

So here is what we get...

I think this will really help us to understand what our audience is interested in. It will also help us find new content to repin around similar topics, and new people to follow!

Its currently only been rolled out to a few accounts for testing, my personal account isn't within this test, I will keep you updated on progress.

Thank you Pinterest, I look forward to playing with this new feature.

Hightlight of the week?

I have to say this week I am loving the additional of Instagram for the desktop, now I can browse all those beautiful images while sipping a cuppa at my desk :)

Its true, the desktop web version isn't as addictive as the mobile app, however its great to see the likes clocking up after I have uploaded a cute new pet picture to the works account without having the get the iPad out every five minutes! I think many businesses that use Instagram as part of their social media will find this new web tool a great tool to help monitor their accounts.

Follow me on Instagram @KirstElizabeth

I also would like to note her something from last week, the HMV Twitter 'Hijack'.

As members of the head office were hauled into the boardroom, the whole event was live tweeted with #HMVXFactorFiring soon trending! Its astonishing to think that a company so large, left the passwords in the hands of a single employee, and never requested access to after they went into administration?! It seems HMV learnt the powers of social media a little too late. If you need to catch up on this story, take a read at http://www.thedrum.com/opinion/2013/02/01/hmv-twitter-hijack-it-s-hard-believe-there-are-still-social-media-lessons-be

I would love to hear your thoughts on this, do you think the employee was wrong to live tweet the event? Or were HMV to blame for not safeguarding their social media?

Hopefully may businesses have learnt a few lessons now!
